The Full Facelift Procedure
A full facelift uses an incision that begins in the hairline near the temples, curves around the ear, and finishes in the lower scalp. During the procedure, facial fat may also be sculpted or redistributed, and underlying tissues repositioned. The deeper layers of the face and the muscles may also be lifted. Skin will then be repositioned and excess skin trimmed away. If desired, a second incision may also be made under the chin to improve signs of aging on the neck. All incisions are made as inconspicuously as possible.
Full Facelift Recovery
Following full facelift surgery, a compression garment and wraps will need to be worn to reduce swelling. Patients should keep their head elevated as much as possible, and avoid bending forward. Mild to moderate bruising, swelling, and discomfort will occur, though pain medication can help. Patients should avoid driving for up to a week after surgery, and strenuous activities for two to six weeks. Although a facelift can turn back the hands of time, it does not stop the aging process; most facelift results last for about 10 years.
