Understanding the Full Facelift Procedure
A full facelift is a customized surgical procedure tailored to each patient’s unique needs. The procedure typically involves:
1. Incision Placement:
Begins in the hairline near the temples, curves around the ear, and finishes in the lower scalp.
An additional incision may be made under the chin to enhance neck contours.
2. Facial Tissue Repositioning:
Facial fat may be sculpted or redistributed.
Muscles and deep tissue layers are lifted for a natural, youthful appearance.
3. Excess Skin Removal:
Loose, sagging skin is trimmed away.
Skin is gently re-draped for a smooth, firm appearance.
4. Closure:
Incisions are carefully closed, and sutures are placed.
Our surgeons ensure that all incisions are placed discreetly to minimize visible scarring.
Full Facelift Recovery – What to Expect
Following your procedure, you’ll be asked to wear a compression garment and wraps to help reduce swelling and support the healing process. It’s normal to experience mild to moderate swelling and bruising, which typically subside over the course of a few weeks. To ensure your comfort during the initial recovery period, prescription pain medication may be provided.
During the first week, it’s important to keep your head elevated to minimize swelling and avoid bending forward. Strenuous activities should be avoided for at least two to six weeks, and driving should be postponed for at least one week to ensure safety and allow your body to heal properly.
Although a full facelift can rejuvenate your appearance by 10 years or more, it does not stop the aging process. Long-lasting results can be maintained through a healthy lifestyle, daily skincare, and consistent sun protection.
